B&B Peak District

Peak District Spa and  Rivendale are participating in the Electric Bicycle network within the Peak District and took delivery of their first electric bikes before the Easter bank holiday weekend.

The Electric Bicycle Network is a cluster of locations from which electric bikes can be hired and/or their batteries re-charged. The long term aim is to create a nationwide network from which electric bikes can be hired, however the Peak District was selected as the launch area because of its extensive network of cycle ways, beautiful scenery and variety of accommodation, cafes and pubs adjoining the cycle routes.

Situated just 100 metres from the Tissington Trail a few miles south of its junction with the High Peak Trail, Peak District Spa is an ideal location for electric bike hire and battery re-charging as clients can re-charge their own batteries in the cafe over lunch whilst the bike batteries are being re-charged at the charge point.

The electric bikes provide virtually noise-freepower assistance to the pedaling effort of the user, the effect being to make the rider feel like superman when it is in sport mode, an Olympic athlete in normal mode and merely very fit in economy mode. The assistance is provided up to 15 miles per hour with a range of up to 20 miles subject to the terrain, the mode of assistance selected and the sensible use of the bikes 7 gears. However, even when the battery is exhausted, the electric bike functions as a normal 7 gear bicycle which is hardly disastrous on the even gradients and hard limestone surface of the former railway lines which are the High Peak & Tissington Trails.

The Tissington Trail also links to the trail surrounding Carsington reservoir via the Trails Triangle – and thence back to Peak District Spa via the High Peak and Tissington Trails providing a superb triangular route with panoramic views over the Peak District, an enjoyable tour around Carsington Reservoir with a plethora of cafes and pubs along the way.

The bikes are extremely easy to use and cost just £25 for an 8 hour day hire or £15 for a 4 hour half day hire. All in all,  ideal for people who want an easy cycling tour of some of  the Peak District’s spectacular scenery without lung-busting effort!

B&B Derbyshire

Most of us lead busy lives and it is very important to find the time to relax. Taking a weekend break is a perfect way to break up the monotony of daily living and to refresh and motivate ourselves for the future. Derbyshire is a beautiful county and the ideal place in which to take a relaxing weekend break.
Derbyshire is home to the Peak district, and the peak district national park.  A short break in Derbyshire will give you the opportunity to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of this landscape. By walking at leisure across the many hills, dales and moors, you can appreciate the beautiful scenery and refresh your mind. If you are looking for something a little more invigorating you can take more challenging walks up mountains and across moorland. There is also the opportunity to cycle in the Peak district national park.
As a popular tourist area, it is not difficult to find accommodation in Derbyshire. There are many types of accommodation available ranging from 5 star hotels to self catering cottages, to B&B’s. A B&B is an ideal venue in which to take your weekend break. Most B&B’s have a choice of double, single and twin rooms, often with en suite shower rooms and bathrooms. They usually have high quality bedding, enabling you to rest well on you weekend break, internet access and television in the bedrooms.
It is easy to find a B&B which is situated in a suitable area. If you wish to take a quiet break you can stay in a village or a country B&B, or if you can choose to remain nearer to a town so as to be able to enjoy the facilities, shops and restaurants.
